When to See a Doctor for Babies: Subtle Signs
1. New mole
If you notice a new, larger mole on baby’s delicate skin, the first thing you should observe is whether it is asymmetrical in shape and unusual in color. This would be a reason to consult a specialist to be on the safe side. Because a malignant tumor could develop.
Some babies are born with a pigment mark (birthmark or mole). Most of the time this is harmless, but over time there may be changes that need to be investigated. The sooner the better.
2. Excessive hair loss
If your baby is losing a lot of hair, he or she may be vitamin deficient. Often one does not immediately become aware of this. Take your child to the doctor, he will conduct the necessary examinations to determine the exact causes.
3. Changes in behavior
Changes in behavior such as loss of appetite, decreased physical activity or difficulty falling asleep are signs that babies need to see a doctor.
4. Too large head circumference
Normally the pediatrician checks the circumference growth of the head during regular examinations of the baby using a growth table from the World Health Organization. In this way, the development of the brain can be examined externally in order to identify possible complications at an early stage.
In the case of hydrocephalus (colloquially water head), the head develops more strongly and often there is also a bulging fontanel. If you see a change in the shape of your baby’s head, take your child to the doctor!
5. Loss of hearing
If your baby does not respond when you call them, they may have hearing difficulties. You’ll need to take it to a specialist doctor for an appropriate exam. It is not always easy to identify hearing problems. But early detection and treatment is very important!
6. Thirst
If a baby is thirsty and constantly asking for water, this can also indicate problems. It could be a sign of dehydration or a more serious illness. Have your little darling examined by a doctor!
7. Snoring
Many children snore a little. That’s why you shouldn’t worry. However, if the snoring gets very loud, it can be a clear symptom of a breathing problem or infection. Take your child to the doctor as soon as possible for appropriate treatment.
If your baby snores a lot, and if they have other symptoms, they could have enlarged polyps. This can be resolved with a quick and easy surgical procedure.
Don’t ignore these signs! If you have any doubts, the best thing to do is to take your child to the doctor, who can make a correct diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment.
