Usually broken or worn tires are thrown straight away. But just because they no longer serve their original purpose does not mean that they cannot be used for other things.
Have you ever asked yourself what you could do with the old car tires? You will be amazed at what great ideas people have already come up with and how they have implemented them in a creative and practical way.
You just have to let your imagination run wild and think about what can become of an old car tire when you convert it or decorate it. Take on the challenge of the game and start recycling old car tires.
5 different ways to recycle car tires
1. As a coffee or living room table
This practical idea is very easy to implement. You simply take a car tire as a base and place a wooden or glass plate on it, which you can use as a table top. You can then decorate the tire in different ways.
Some make a kind of cover made of fabric or synthetic leather for the tire base, which matches their other furniture. Others prefer it a little more rustic and use ropes made of hemp or other materials to wrap the base.
If you want to make a cover, cut out a circle and a rectangle from the fabric or synthetic leather (according to the tire dimensions). The circle is connected to the rectangle, which should be the same width as the hoop and big enough to wrap around it completely. It works the same way for the lower side.
If you want to be able to wash the cover when needed, add a handy zipper between the lower circle and the rectangle.
If you prefer to wrap your base with a rope, you should make sure that the rope is long enough to completely encase the tire base and the wooden plate. Your table will then look very harmonious and functional.
2. As a children’s swing
If you live in a house that has a large enough garden or yard (and a tall tree in it), you can recreate the classic children’s swing that you always see in the movies. It’s not difficult at all and your children will be delighted.
All you have to do is clean the car tire well, paint it so that it looks prettier and then hang it up on a strong branch of the tree with durable ropes. And your own children’s swing is ready!
3. As flower pots
Another idea for recycling car tires is to use them in the garden. How? Quite simply, we can make flower pots or pots out of them.
For example, if you want to plant a tree, you have to be very careful in the beginning that it doesn’t grow crooked, be knocked over by the wind (or your dog may dig it up completely) or that the children don’t accidentally twist it while playing, just to name a few Enumerate dangers.
A good idea is to put some old car tires around your newly planted tree. This way the little tree is much better protected and you can comfortably pour it from above over the opening of the tires.
Car tires are ideally suited as flower pots or tubs, because they are made of durable material that can easily withstand the pressure of the potting soil and the roots. Plus, you don’t have to worry about them rusting.
There are very different ways to turn your old tires into flower pots. If you want to use them right in your garden, then just paint them and plant them. The ground (or rather, the earth) serves as the underside of the flower pot in this case.
If you want to use the flowerpots made of tires on a different surface and they should be portable, then you have to build a bottom first so that the soil does not fall out of the flowerpot when you move it.
But you can also cut round openings in the tire to put separate flower pots with plants in them.
4. As a container for garden items or garbage cans
If you have three car tires, you can stack them on top of each other and connect them together, e.g. B. by tying them up or tying them with wire etc. to keep them stable.
Then you cut a wooden disc (according to the diameter of the tires) and glue it to the lower side (as the bottom). Next you can paint the car tires in different colors and add a lid at the top. Your container is ready!
If you want to use the bin for trash, don’t forget to use a plastic bag so that you can easily take the trash out afterwards.
5. As steps on steep slopes
If you live in a hilly area, then this idea will be handy for you, as it makes it easier to climb up and down steep slopes.
You just have to mark where the path should run and then graduate the slope there accordingly. On each of the resulting steps you put one of the car tires and then fill it with the soil that you removed before creating the steps. In this way, the tires become stable steps. These stairs are absolutely weatherproof!
By now you have probably noticed why it is a good idea to recycle car tires. Try giving things that you no longer use a new use and collecting points in creativity, economy and skill!
